Billing (Fees) Journal Overview
The Billing (Fees) Journal is the core Accounts Receivable (A/R) report. All other A/R reports retrieve information from it. The Billing (Fees) Journal lists invoices by A/R date for your matters.
You can run the report for some of the following reasons:
- Finding the Accounts Receivable Balance for the Firm
- Finding the Accounts Receivable Balance for a Matter
- Finding the Accounts Receivable Balance for a Client
- Finding the Accounts Receivable Balance for a Responsible Lawyer
- Finding the Outstanding Balance for a Single Invoice
Take the following steps to run the Billing (Fees) Journal:
- Click Reports, select Journal, and Billing (Fees)... to open the Billing (Fees) Journal window.
- Enter a matter number in the Matter box or leave blank to run the report for all matters.
- Enter a client number in the Client box or leave blank to run the report for all clients.
- Enter a lawyer nickname in the Resp Lawyer box or leave blank to run the report for all lawyers.
- Enter an invoice number in the Invoice box or leave it blank to include all invoices.
- Enter a date in the Start Date box to include invoices that you create on or after that date.
- Enter a date in the End Date box to include invoices that you create on or before that date.
NOTE: Enter 1/1/1982 in the Start Date box and 12/31/2199 in the End Date box to run the report for all dates. - Click to check the Totals Only box to hide the invoice details or uncheck to show invoice details.
- Click to check the Firm Totals Only box to only show the firm totals or uncheck to show all invoice and matter totals on the report.
- Click to check the Include Paid Invoices box to include both paid and unpaid invoices on the report or uncheck to include unpaid invoices.
- Click to check the Show Balances As of End Date box.
- Select Default from the Layout drop-down.
- Use the Matters and Other tabs to select additional report options.
- Select Output options.
NOTE: Click Load Last to load the report selections as they appear on the last Billing (Fees) Journal. - Click OK to generate the report.
