Opening the Bank Reconciliation Tool

The program provides the Bank Reconciliation tool to help you reconcile your bank statements to the Bank Journals. After completing the reconciliation process, the program saves the bank reconciliation information and you can print a hard copy of the bank reconciliation report for your records.

 

Take the following steps to open the Bank Reconciliation tool in preparation of reconciling your bank accounts:

  1. Click Tools and select Bank Reconciliation... to open the Bank Reconciliation - Select Account window.
  2. Select General if you plan to reconcile a General Bank account or select Trust if you plan to reconcile a Trust Bank account.
  3. Enter the account number you want to reconcile in the Acct box.
  4. Enter the beginning date from your bank statement in the Start Date box if this is your first bank reconciliation.
    NOTE: The program grays out the Start Date box if this is not your first bank reconciliation.
  5. Enter the ending date from your bank statement in the End Date box.
  6. Enter the opening balance from you bank statement in the Opening Balance box if this is your first bank reconciliation.
    NOTE: The program grays out the Opening Balance box if this is not your first bank reconciliation.
  7. Enter the ending balance from you bank statement in the Closing Balance box.
  8. Click to check mark Skip zero balance receipts to hide receipts with a zero amount after you open the Bank Reconciliation window.
  9. Click to check mark Skip zero balance checks to hide checks with a zero amount after you open the Bank Reconciliation window.
  10. Click to check mark Read Bank Statement from Disk to read the bank statement information from an electronic file.
  11. Click to check mark Auto Save Every and enter the number of minutes to automatically save your bank reconciliation as you work.
  12. Click to check mark Use Deposit Slips to group receipts on the Bank Reconciliation window by their deposit slip number.
    NOTE: Enable the Use Deposit Slips feature in System Settings.
  13. Click to check mark Verify Bank Journal Entries to refresh the Trust bank or General bank index files before the program opens the Bank Reconciliation window.
  14. Click OK to open the Bank Reconciliation window.

NOTE:

Click OK on The 'Closing Balance' is zero. Is this correct? prompt if your bank statement closing balance is zero.
