Clearing Your Browser's Cache Memory

An Important Note about Changing Browser Settings/Configurations

The Internet browser settings and configurations we suggest in this article relate to the optimum performance of the LexisNexis® family of web-based products only. The settings you choose in configuring your browser directly affect all of the internal and external browser-based applications you use. You should always check with your Network Administrator or your PC/IT team before you change any system setting or configuration. If you have questions or concerns about the browser settings, you should use with your LexisNexis® products, please contact our Customer Support team.

Clearing your cache can significantly improve the speed and performance of your browser. The following procedures provide steps to clear the cache memory for a variety of browsers:

NOTE: Not all LexisNexis products support all the browsers referred to on this page.

Clearing Cache on Microsoft® Internet Explorer 6.0

  1. Close all browsers.
  2. Open Internet Explorer.
  3. Click Tools on the menu bar and select Internet Options.
  4. Click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
  5. Click OK on the Delete Files dialog box.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Close and reopen the browser.

Clearing Cache on Microsoft® Internet Explorer 7.0

  1. Close all browsers.
  2. Open Internet Explorer.
  3. Click Tools on the menu bar and select Internet Options.
  4. Click Delete under Browsing History.
  5. Click Delete Files.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Close.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Close and reopen the browser.

Clearing Cache on Microsoft® Internet Explorer 8.0

  1. Close all browsers.
  2. Open Internet Explorer.
  3. Click Tools on the menu bar and select Internet Options.
  4. Click Delete under Browsing History.
  5. Uncheck every box except for Temporary Internet Files in the Delete Browsing History window.
  6. Click Delete.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Close and reopen the browser.

Clearing Cache on Firefox 2.0

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click Tools on the menu bar and select Options.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. Click the Network tab.
  5. Click Clear Now under the Cache section.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Close and reopen the browser.

Clearing Cache on Firefox 3.0

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click Tools on the menu bar and select Options.
  3. Click Privacy.
  4. Click Clear Now.
    NOTE: Make sure, only Cache is checked.
  5. Click Clear Private Data Now.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Close and reopen the browser.

Clearing Cache on Firefox 3.5

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click Tools on the menu bar and select Clear Recent History.
  3. Select Everything from the Time range to clear drop down list.
  4. Click the down arrow next to Details.
  5. Click to check the box Cache.
    NOTE: Make sure, only Cache is checked.
  6. Click Clear Now.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Close and reopen the browser.

Clearing Cache on Netscape® Navigator 9.X

  1. Open Netscape Navigator.
  2. Go to a non LexisNexis Web page.
  3. Click Tools on the menu bar and select Options.
  4. Click Privacy.
  5. Click Clear Now under Clear Private Data.
  6. Click to check the box Clear Cache.
  7. Click Clear data now.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Close and reopen the browser.

Safari 3.0 for Windows

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Go to a non LexisNexis web page.
  3. Click Edit on the menu bar and select Empty Cache.
  4. Click Empty.
  5. Close and reopen the browser.

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Go to a non LexisNexis web page.
  3. Click Edit on the menu bar and select Empty Cache.
  4. Click Empty.
  5. Close and reopen the browser.

Safari 5.0 for Windows

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Click the Wheel icon.
  3. Click Reset Safari.
  4. Uncheck all options except for Emtpy the Cache.
  5. Click Reset.
  6. Close and reopen the browser.

AOL 9.0

  1. Close your browser.
  2. Click Start, select Settings and Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Internet Options.
  4. Click Delete Files.
  5. Click OK on the Delete Files dialog box.
  6. Click OK.

Safari 3.0 for Macintosh

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Go to a non LexisNexis webpage.
  3. Click the Safari menu and Select Empty Cache.
    NOTE: The Safari menu is next to the Apple Icon.
  4. Click Empty on the Are You Sure? window.
  5. Close and reopen the browser.

Safari 4.0 for Macintosh

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Go to a non LexisNexis webpage.
  3. Click the Safari menu and select Reset Safari.
  4. Click to check the box Empty the Cache.
  5. Click Reset.
  6. Close and reopen the browser.

Firefox 3.0 for Macintosh

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Go to a non LexisNexis webpage.
  3. Click the Firefox menu and select Preferences.
  4. Click the Privacy icon.
  5. Click Clear Now under the Private Data section.
    NOTE: Ensure that Cache is checked.
  6. Click Clear Private Data Now.
  7. Close and reopen the browser.

Firefox 3.5 for Macintosh

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Go to a non LexisNexis webpage.
  3. Click Tools on the menu bar and select Clear Recent History.

BlackBerry Handheld

Clearing the content caches clears both the rendered pages and server data:

  1. Highlight the Browser icon and click the trackwheel.
  2. Click the trackwheel again to display the Browser Options menu.
  3. Scroll down to Options and click the trackwheel to open the Browser Options screen.
  4. Scroll down to General Properties and click the trackwheel to open the General Properties screen.
  5. Click the trackwheel to open the Cache menu.
  6. Scroll down to Clear Content Caches and click the trackwheel to clear the cache and return to the General Properties screen.
  7. Press Escape to page back to the main menu.
