LexisNexis® at lexis.com® Print Utility

The LexisNexis® at lexis.com Print Utility provides faster document delivery for attached printers (it does not work with LexisNexis Dedicated Printers). The utility saves you between two and five clicks each time you want to print or download a document. You can use the print utility in conjunction with the Fast Print feature to streamline attached print jobs for greater efficiency.

NOTE:

The Print Utility requires a Java Script and Active X enabled browser.

 

Choose one of the following options to learn more about the print utility:


Installing the Print Utility

Take the following steps to install the Print Utility:

  1. Open a new browser window and go to http://support.lexisnexis.com/lndownload/.
  2. Select the LexisNexis® at lexis.com Print Utility file for your browser from the drop-down menu and click Image Title.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Read the LexisNexis® Software License Agreement and click Agree.
  5. Click Save in the File Download box.
  6. Choose a destination to save the file and click Save.
    NOTE: To prevent a computer reboot, it is recommended that you close all web browsers before you continue with the installation.
  7. Locate the file that you just saved and double-click on it.
  8. Click Next at the Welcome screen.
  9. Click Next at the Choose Destination Location screen.
  10. Click Next at the Start Installation screen.
  11. Click Finish at the Installation Complete screen.

NOTE:

Because the Print Utility requires a Java Script and Active X enabled browser, we provide a Print Utility for the following Netscape browsers:

  • Netscape® 6.2
  • Netscape® 7.x

Using the Print Utility to Print to an Attached Printer

Take the following steps to print with the Print Utility:

  1. Click print on your search results screen to open the Print Documents window in a secondary browser window.
  2. Select a document format from the Printer drop-down list.
    NOTE: Click to check mark the box next to After formatting, show Windows Print settings
    to select a different printer than your default printer.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow under Document View and highlight a display format.
  4. NOTE: Some documents have limited format options. For example, if you use the Get a Document feature, the site limits your choices to Full and Custom.
  5. Select the Document Range (Current Document, All Documents, Checked Documents, or Select Items).
  6. Click to check mark the boxes for the Page Options you want.
  7. Click the Print button to open the Document Delivery window.
    NOTE: The document delivery dialog box indicates the status of the print request and number of pages while the system transfers the documents to your word processor.

Downloading Documents with the Print Utility

Take the following steps to download documents:

  1. Click download on your search results screen to open the Download Documents window in a secondary browser window.
  2. Select Word(DOC), WordPerfect®(WPD), Generic(RTF), Text(TXT), Adobe®(PDF), or HTML (HTML) from the Document Type drop-down list.
  3. Enter the path location in the Path field or use the default path location.
    NOTE: If you do not want to use the default download location, click the Browse button to select a different directory.
  4. Enter a file name in the Name field or use the default file name provided.
  5. Click the drop-down arrow under Document View and highlight a display format.
    NOTE: Some documents have limited format options. For example, if you use the Get a Document feature, the site limits your choices to Full and Custom.
  6. Select the Document Range (Current Document, All Documents, or Selected Documents).
  7. Click to check mark the boxes for the Page Options you want.
  8. Click the Download button to open the Document Delivery window.
    NOTE: Click Ok on the Path does not exist dialog box to create the file location that appears in the Path field. The document delivery dialog box indicates estimated download time and number of pages while the site transfers the documents to your word processor.
  9. Open the document from the specified location, which you designate in the download Path field.
