Assigning Sub Accounts to Parent G/L Accounts

You can assign a G/L account to a parent account as long as the parent account is the same account type, has no activity, and is not a control account link to control accts. After you assign an account to a parent account it becomes a sub account of the parent.

Assigning Sub Accounts in Versions 9.20 and Higher

Take the following steps to assign a sub account to a parent account in versions 9.20 and higher:

  1. Click Options, select Lists, and G/L Accounts... to open the G/L Accounts window.
  2. Click to highlight the account you want to assign to a parent account.
  3. Click the Change Item icon to open the Change G/L Account window.
  4. Enter a parent account number in the Sub account of box.
    NOTE: You cannot assign control accounts to a parent account.
  5. Click OK to return to the Pop Up Help - G/L Accounts window.
  6. Click the Save and Close icon.

Assigning Sub Accounts in Versions 9.0 to 9.20

Take the following steps to assign a sub account to a parent account in versions 9.0 to 9.20:

  1. Click Options, select Lists, and G/L Accounts... to open the Pop Up Help - G/L Accounts window.
  2. Click to highlight the account you want to assign to a parent account.
  3. Click Change to open the Change G/L Account window.
  4. Enter a parent account number in the Sub account of box.
    NOTE: You cannot assign control accounts to a parent account.
  5. Click OK to return to the G/L Accounts window.
  6. Click OK.
