Defining PCLaw SQL Login Error Messages

You may receive one of the following error messages when you login to a PCLaw SQL set of books:


Error Message:

Error: 8 while trying to access PCLaw Database

Problem Description:

  • You did not configure the PCLaw program with the correct SQL Server name
  • The SQL Server is not running
  • The SQL Server is not set for SQL Authentication
  • You did not enable TCP/IP in SQL Server Client Protocols
  • There is a network issue preventing access to the server
  • The pclawuser_##### username does not exist in the SQL Server logins
  • The password for pclawuser_##### does not match the password for the PCLaw ADMIN user

Error Message:

PCLaw database PCLawDB_##### does not exist on server

Problem Description:

  • You did not attach the PCLaw SQL database to the server
  • You did attach the PCLaw SQL database to the server but pclawuser_##### does not have db_owner access

NOTE:

If you do not configure the PCLaw program with the correct SQL Server name, please contact Customer Support for further assistance resetting the server name.
