Running A Connected Synchronization
Take the following steps to run a connected synchronization:
- Click File and select Synchronize and Practice Advantage to open the Practice Advantage Synchronization window.
NOTE: You can run a connected synchronization from the host or remote computer. - Click Next to open the Select Synchronization Activity window.
- Select Host and Remote Databases are Connected.
- Click Next to open the Select Database to Synchronize window.
- Select the database from the Select Configuration File drop-down list.
NOTE: If you are running the connected synchronization from the Host, select the configuration file under Remote Database. If you are running the connected synchronization from the Remote, select the configuration file under Host Database. - Click Next to open the Confirm Before Making Changes window.
- Select the options you want on the Confirm Before Making Changes window.
- Click Next to open the Backup Databases window.
- Click to check the Backup Host Database box if you want to backup the Host database.
NOTE: Enter a path and filename for the backup file in the field below Backup Host Database. - Click to check the Backup Remote Database box if you want to backup the Remote database.
NOTE: Enter a path and filename for the backup file in the field below Backup Remote Database. - Click Backup Now if you want to backup either or both databases.
NOTE: Wait until you see the Backup Completed message at the bottom of the window. - Click Next to open the Ready to begin synchronization window.
- Click Next.
NOTE: Clicking Next opens the Synchronization Confirmation window if you selected to confirm all actions before making changes to records in step 8. Skip to step 16 if you did not select to confirm all actions before making changes to records. - Review and confirm all changes.
- Click Sync to open the Ready to Begin Making Changes to Databases window.
- Click Start to start the synchronization.
- Click OK to close the Synchronization Completed message when it opens.
