Determining the Size of the Enterprise Database

The Time Matters® installation includes Microsoft SQL Server Express, which stores the Time Matters database. There is a 4 GB database size limit built into Microsoft SQL Server Express, as determined by the size of the MDF file. If you need more space, you need to purchase another edition of SQL Server without the database size limitation.

Take the following steps to obtain the size of your SQL database:

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Go to [X]:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.[X]\MSSQL\Data.
  3. Right-click TimeMatters9.mdf and select Properties to open the TimeMatters9.mdf Properties window.
  4. Verify that the file size is less than 4 GB.
  5. Contact Customer Support if you use Microsoft SQL Server Express and the file size of the MDF file is close to or surpasses the 4 GB limit.
