Linking a Matter to a Contact


Linking a New Matter to an Existing Contact

Take the following steps to link a new Matter record to an existing Contact record:

  1. Click Contacts on the main toolbar to open the Contact List window.
  2. Double-click the Contact you want to link to open the Contact Form - Change window.
  3. Select the Related tab.
  4. Click Add Icon on the Related tab toolbar to open the Add New Related Record window.
  5. Select Matter for the Type of Record.
  6. Select Automatic Relation - Add New Record for the Type of Relation.
  7. Click OK to open the Matter Form - Add window.
    NOTE: The Contact name automatically populates in the Matter form.
  8. Complete the Matter form.
  9. Click Save & Close to close the Matter Form - Add window.
  10. Verify that the new Matter record appears on the Related tab of the Contact.
  11. Click Save & Close to close the Contact Form - Change window.

Linking an Existing Matter to a New Contact

Take the following steps to link an existing Matter record to a new Contact record:

  1. Click Matters on the main toolbar to open the Matters List window.
  2. Double-click the Matter you want to link to open the Matter Form - Change window.
  3. Select the Related tab.
  4. Click Add Icon on the Related tab toolbar to open the Add New Related Record window.
  5. Select Contact for the Type of Record.
  6. Select Automatic Relation - Use Existing Record for the Type of Relation.
  7. Click OK to open the Contact Form - Add window.
    NOTE: The Matter name automatically populates in the Contact form.
  8. Complete the Contact form.
  9. Click Save & Close to close the Contact Form - Add window.
  10. Verify that the new Contact record appears on the Related tab of the Matter.
  11. Click Save & Close to close the Matter Form - Change window.
